From its early beginnings in a San Francisco garage, Timbuk2 has always focused on serving those who live life on two wheels. Their bags needed to be able to handle the wear and tear of daily use without fear of damaging the rider’s precious cargo. Not only was durability a factor, but also organization and accessibility. Luckily the team at Timbuk2 is passionate about cycling and have spent years perfecting their craft.
Initially starting as messenger bags being created by a single person, Timbuk2 has expanded to outfit commuters of all kinds. Those who prefer two straps rather than one will love the sleek Uptown backpack. Many of their laptop bags, like the Commute, are made with a TSA-friendly design so you’re not always holding up those long lines at the airport. The Co-Pilot and the Aviator series of wheeled uprights are great for worry-free trips to your flight gate.
Despite these other great products, Timbuk2’s heart has always been tied to home: the sprawling hills and winding roads of San Francisco. A versatile bag for any rider. Road cyclist or beach cruiser. From the daredevil messenger bolting between alleys and busy streets, to the guy who’s just trying to pick up a 6-pack to enjoy with friends, both can pedal confidently knowing Timbuk2 has their back.
My wife purchased this for me when I started grad school. This bag is incredibly well-made, comfortable to carry, and holds everything I need. I regularly carry a laptop, tablet, chargers, writing supplies, notebook, water bottle, wallet & keys, and several textbooks - this bag holds it all.
I bought this briefcase as a gift for my husband, but I was very disappointed to see the quaility of the case when it arrived. The fabric looks much different in person. It has a cheap, plastic-like finish, and the construction is poorly designed. When holding the case, it looks like a trash bag because the handle pulls up on the fabric so badly. I feel like continued use would eventually rip the handle from the fabric. The backpack option is awkward and uncomfortable to wear. There is a lot of organizational features to the case, but that's all it really has going for it. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone needing a professional case.
I have another Timbuk2 backpack that I love (Leader) but this one just doesn't fit the bill. It's too wide for my back and shoulders (I am a woman) and it just straight up looks absurd when it's nearly empty. It's going back.
Great bag! Holds a lot, well organized, functional, stylish and professional.
This is a pretty great bag! I love the zip top that makes it function like a tote, yet it still carries like a backpack. The laptop sleeve worked well for a recent trip. The outside pocket is good for items you need easy access to. But the magnet only really holds if the bag isn't too full, so you have to be careful to not put anything valuable in the outer pouch. Otherwise it's a really functional and durable bag and the best replacement I could have found for my beloved Patagonia bag that they discontinued.
Love this pack, as I was looking for something that I could put gym stuff, books, etc. I live in the City, so a good commuter bag was necessary. The bag works well for that and you can stuff a fair amount, it can be a weekend bag in the summer for sure, but the capacity is a bit deceiving. One thing I'll note is that when you have two water bottles in, that actually take space away on the inside - Timbuk2 did not provide additional cloth to counter that, so it can be a bit tighter. The zippers are durable and the back zipper is especially convenient to access books, laptop, etc. whatever you really are putting back there.
Excellent nice-looking backpack that is versatile and functional. I have been using it every day for work and have loved it. I can carry my 13 inch MacBook Air in it and it's been unharmed, even though I haven't been gentle with the backpack at all. It's clean-looking and lightweight. It fits my lunch, all the necessary items I carry in my purse and I still have room! I'm 5'4" and it doesn't makes me look or feel like a turtle, either!
Bought this for my husband who has struggled with a well worn backpack that has long since seen its day! He can wear this on the bike or over his shoulder walking into work and loves it. Great versatility. Make sure you play with the straps. It really does make a difference in fit. Good pockets.
Great bag; looks great, shoulder strap is easy to adjust. Only issue is that once you start filling up the pockets it has little room to expand and can get uncomfortable. Recommendation: Plan well on the size you need
Great for traveling! Lots of pockets
