I own several pairs of Frye boots, and I am always impressed by their quality. They are pricey, to be sure. But, they offer more styles than Red Wing or any other comparable brand. However, there are two things you should be aware of before purchasing these boots. They are VERY NARROW. Straight out of the box they looked very small. After trying them on, they felt as if they were actually narrow width. But, they only come in medium, so that was not the case. Length is true to size, but I could barely get my foot into them with a regular sock. After reading other reviews regarding the width, I decided to stretch them out slightly. Now, they are comfortable with the thinnest socks I own. I'm hoping they will give a little more over time. If you have even the slightest amount of 'girth' to your feet, I would stay away from these. Also, I like that these boots have a pre-worn appearance. I wouldn't call it distressed because they look very worn. I like that. But, I think they are much more distressed than they appear on the website. It is not just a slight patina, but a heavily worn look all over. You might want to think about that before shelling out nearly $350. That being said, I love them. But, I have slightly narrow feet, and these almost went back because they were too small.
I'm a fan of the (pointed) snipped toe boot. Frye takes into account the pointed toe and they're true to size. If you like to wear socks or have a wide foot, you may consider going up half a size. The Italian suede is soft and my pair needed to stretch just a tad in the vamp, else they were a perfect fit right out of the box. I'll wear them around the house and they'll be just fine. The Ash color is beautiful and I'm looking forward to pairing them up with outfits. I also own the Sacha (another great snip toe) and I think the Shane has a sleeker profile. The Shane is a little bit country and the Sacha is rock 'n roll. The metal tip adds flair & bling. I eyed them for a long time and finally bought them on sale. Very pleased. Oh and they arrived the very next day carefully wrapped and packaged. Can't beat that!
These boots are gorgeous, but too big on my skinny calves. I usually wear a 6.5 or 7, but am a 6 in Fryes.
Have bought several pairs of shoes from Zappos with no disappointment and this time was no exception.... My first pair of boots, back when where a pair of Frye's... Again no disappointments,,, great fit, comfortable and well made... I am a believer you get what you pay for... You can't beat the craftsmanship or quality of this boot... Fantastic...
The toe of the sole on this boot has already started to separate after just 3 months.
Lovely boot. Hated to return them but, being older, I cannot wear the higher heel.
A nice lighter boot. True to size and maybe a touch narrow. I found them hard to lace up due to the texture of the shoe laces, but those are easy to replace. The leather is a little soft/thin for my taste, but makes them a little more refined than you might expect. The rubber lug lift and outsole liner gives a LOT less grip than I expected since the treads are very shallow and the rubber itself isn't particularly grippy. If you're looking for a true combat boot, these are a bit too light-duty in my opinion, but they're lovely for casual or costuming wear.
These boots look like they're well made, and I would have loved to have kept them, but I couldn't even fit my foot inside! If you're between sizes, definitely order up.
I truly love these. I just got them and they are beautiful - very comfortable heel height and will go great with a skirt or jeans. I got them in the medium brown (chestnut) and had to get them in the light beige as well. I have other Frye boots and you cannot beat the quality and they are stylish and comfortable to wear out of the box.
These booties are one size too big. I wear 11 in every brand. Except for some Frye boots. I can easily fit in size 10. They are beautifully made, classic style. I am not sure how it would wear in rainy weather.
